Hi.

Welcome to Make 1,2 - a space for reviews about albums, songs and artists who are changing the way we think about society today.

Blissing

Blissing

It's admittedly been a rough week but music, once again, has seemed to produce a bit of a blissful solace, and no song embodies a sense of optimism in dark times better than Björk's "Blissing Me," a beautiful ode to love in this technological era. In many ways, this week's playlist reaches further into genre than many of the others, such as when the opening contemplative pop ballad by Ella Vos with its beautiful refrain "I know you care" transitions into an electric dance floor hit about getting lost in the heat of desire from Somewhere Else. Later, after a build up from a great DAWN remix, a surprise hit from Sigrid, and a softer version of Somewhere Else's earlier banger, Björk's single bridges the gap between the mélange at the end: fiery, soulful and eloquent examinations of the self that ends with Xavier Omär's chorus to "Please don't change me."

Change, it seems, is everywhere but if we can latch on to the things and people that we love, and love them for what they have to offer, maybe any difficult moments can be easily overcome.
